We’re back from Washington, DC! We had an amazing trip, I’ve got so much to share. It will take me a while to process everything and play catch up, so if you need anything urgently please call. In the meantime, I wanted to share one of the highlights of our trip - witnessing a marriage proposal!

David is one of my classmates from Page School, and he undertook the ginormous task of organizing our 20th reunion. He’s one of the last of our group to marry, and it’s high time! David has a big heart, and a more loyal friend would be hard to find. His girlfriend Jenny was brave enough to join all of us for the reunion. She’s clever, fun to talk to, and drop dead gorgeous. I can’t decide who is more lucky, I’m just happy for them both.

One of our classmates now works on the Senate floor. She gave us a fabulous tour - pointed out Hillary’s seat, talked about the politics of who sits at which desk, etc. Afterwards I was enjoying a glass of wine at a reception held for us in beautiful room on the Senate side of the Capitol building. Without any explanation, she directed David, Jenny and me to follow her. She led us to what is normally an off-limits area - a beautiful sunwashed balcony with an amazing view of the National Mall. She unlocked the door for David and Jenny, and pulled me back just as I was about to follow. This was one of those serendipitous moments. I was so lucky to be a part of this because David kept his plans close to his heart - I didn’t know what was happening, but I had exactly the right gear in my hands.

David got down on one knee, and asked Jenny to marry him. I was snapping away as she accepted, and only then did she realize she had a small audience. We took a few photographs of the newly engaged couple out on the balcony before heading back to the reception to announce the news.

Thank you David and Jenny for allowing me to witness this touching, romantic moment. I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness.
