Radio Paradise
March 8th, 2007 by Dawn Tacker
I was inspired to write about this non-photo topic because my favorite radio station, Radio Paradise, is threatened by recent legislation. Owner Bill Goldsmith wrote about it much more eloquently than I ever could in a blog entry linked here. I thought I would do what I can to get the word about about Internet radio in general, and RP in particular.
Dave and I are both former child musicians, and huge music lovers. We’re both so sick of the commercial advertising on FM stations that we pretty much have Radio Paradise on all the time at home while we’re working. RP is not only 100% commercial free, but they have introduced us to dozens of artists that we would have never heard of otherwise. Bill and Rebecca, the couple that owns and runs RP out of Paradise, California, have a unique talent for pulling together diverse songs by artists from around the world. It’s a completely eclectic mix - everything from rock to jazz to classical - the only qualifier is that is all good.
If you haven’t heard of them, check out RP and see for yourselves, get a taste of what I’m listening to while I edit images. I’m going to log on right after I post this to sign up for quarterly donations to help keep RP going, and I will be following the RIAA controversy closely and will jump in and write letters or whatever else needs doing to keep Internet radio alive.
Getting off my soapbox now…
