Christmas in Cambria
December 25th, 2006 by Dawn Tacker
One of the best things about marrying Dave was marrying into his family. We don’t get to visit them in Cambria as often as we would like, but whenever we do it’s such a treat. So here’s a 100% non-business post, from our trip up to Cambria.
Ready to roll with all the essentials… including the “baby” potty and the “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” movie. We are so glad we bought the Prius last year. We’re such geeks to get excited about it, but our mileage is actually improving - for this trip it was around 43 MPG.
I left my “good” camera home along with the laptop to make this a real vacation… but there were moments like these when I wish I had all my gear with me!
Dave comes from a very musical family. His uncle, Larry, is at the piano with friend Scott playing sax, serenading us on Christmas Eve. They play together in regular gigs, and as part of the big band Gruvething. Super talented guys, I wish I had brought the palmcorder - Andrew was asleep and missed it. Scott made this amazing Italian seafood dinner for us all that night, with calamari that melted in our mouths.
Christmas morning… Andrew loved all of his gifts, but was particularly pleased to get a roundhouse for his train set.
One of Andrew’s mommy’s favorite gifts for him… can you believe how much he loves hats? In this case he refused to let us take the REI tag off it for another week.
Hiking the East-West Ranch, thanks to the coalition of environmental groups that purchased this oceanfront acreage. In another few weeks the fields will be completely green, ’tis the season!

It is always snice to see Andrew. I haven’t seen Larry since Grandma’s funeral. I hope to see you all soon.
Damn typos!
